Internet Outage: Connecting to your iPhone's Personal Hotspot

As an employee of the Treasury Board Secretariat, we are all outfitted with an iPhone. In situations where there may be limited access to a secured wireless connection, you can fallback on this iPhone feature to stay connected. Please ensure your work phone is charged at all times, and contact your manager to make alternative work arrangements if you cannot connect through a secured wireless connection or your iPhone hotspot.

Hotspot Best Practices
  • When not actively utilizing the internet connection, disconnect and turn the hotspot off on your iPhone.
  • If possible, leave your video off. Doing so will minimize data usage and latency in connectivity speeds of your personal hotspot.

To set this personal hotspot up, please see the video below:

Once your personal hotspot has been set up, find this connection on your CDS macbook. You can refer to the video below:

Once connected, your TBS iPhone will display a green bar across the top indicating that the hotspot has been activated:

And, just like that! Now, you should be able to continue browsing and navigating the web with your device on the hotspot!
